In April 2022, Governance Solutions Group (GSG) officially became CDP’s silver partner, providing solution services in the following fields: GHG emissions measurement, portfolio’s carbon footprint measurement, SBT-setting, data collection and software service, sustainability strategy development, as well as TCFD-related support.
CDP, an international NGO which was founded in 2000, runs the global disclosure system for companies to manage their environmental impacts. CDP has been collaborating with nearly 600 global institutional investors and 200+ major purchasers. These investors represent $130 trillion in assets, while the purchasers representing $5.5 trillion of purchasing power. In 2021, over 13,000 companies worldwide responded to CDP’s questionnaires to disclose the environmental performance of their own operations and supply chain.
CDP sponsored climate initiatives, including the SBTi (Science-Based Targets initiatives)，RE100, both have become global mainstream climate initiatives. Currently, 2,800+ companies have joined SBTi while 350+companies have participated in RE100.
As an accredited solutions provider, GSG supports SBT-setting and the development of a roadmap to carbon neutrality

- Development of Science-based Targets
Mingxin Bao，the associate director of GSG’s Climate Change Department, who was responsible for the promotion of SBTi in Greater China when she worked for CDP China. Mrs Bao has supported 25 China-based companies to join in SBTi，and assisted 5 companies to get target approved.
Mrs Bao stated that ‘joining in the SBTi and setting SBT is recognized as best practice for companies to cope with climate change. To support companies to set GHG emissions reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement, GSG provides a series of services, ranging from introduction of international initiatives, explanation of standards and criteria, support of joining initiatives, offering target-setting advices and feasibility analysis, GSG also offer customized services according to the needs of enterprises.
- Development of a roadmap to net zero
GSG supports enterprises on the development of a roadmap to carbon neutrality, which is a comprehensive service including measurement of GHG emissions baseline, conducting scenario analysis, predicting future emissions, setting carbon emissions reduction target (including SBT), as well as engage cost analysis etc., and the roadmap to carbon neutrality would be determined by taking into account the feasibility and economic analysis of different emissions reduction pathways.
- Support responding to CDP questionnaires
The CDP questionnaire is the global mainstream environmental disclosure framework, and CDP scores is a critical reference for investors and purchasers. GSG helps enterprises complete the CDP questionnaire completely and accurately through content explanation, data measurement, and information analysis. Through conducting gap analysis, GSG helps companies identify areas for improvement and make recommendation for further action to improve its CDP scores.
